World leading smokeless tobacco regulation comes in force in Sweden
On 11 April, 2016, new Swedish regulations for additives in snus will come into force. The regulations developed by the National Food Administration (Livsmedelsverket) entail the introduction of specific limits for substances B(a)P and tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNA). The purpose of the new limits is to reduce the exposure to carcinogens in snus and chewing tobacco. This means that Swedish snus manufacturers are now subject to the world’s most comprehensive and strict manufacturing regulation regime for smokeless tobacco products.
